Our vision for King’s Lynn
The Ten Year Vision sets out our vision for King’s Lynn. This has been created together with the feedback from local people and community groups. Our vision is:
King’s Lynn will be a successful town for everyone, with flourishing communities and new opportunities for people to live, work, visit and play. It will be easy to travel in to and throughout the town, in a healthy, safe, sustainable and welcoming place. There will be better facilities, things to do, and arts and culture for people of all ages which will mean we are able to achieve our town’s ambitions.
PROJECT OVERVIEW
The Ten Year Vision sets out a vision for the town and the priorities for the funding whilst the four year Investment Plan outlines the key projects that will receive investment in the first part of the 10 year programme.
King’s Lynn Community Conference
Local people are at the very heart of both of the plans which have been shaped by community feedback shared over the last few years. Thank you to everyone who has taken part in consultation, got involved in an event, and helped to shape the future of our town.
A vibrant, prosperous and attractive town with a wide offering and easy access to green spaces and our rich heritage
A town where people feel safe and well, that offers better life opportunities where healthy lives are supported
A better connected town
A town where people are inspired to aim high and achieve their ambitions and better life opportunities
Our priorities for King’s Lynn
Based on what we’ve heard from local people, community groups, partners, and stakeholders, we carried out an in-depth review to decide where the funding for King’s Lynn should be spent. As a result, we’ve come up with eight priorities for funding which also fits with the Pride in Place aims of ‘thriving places, stronger communities, and empowering people.’ The funding for King’s Lynn will be focused on these themes:
- Town centre revitalisation
- Neighbourhoods and affordable housing
- Employment and skills
- Health and wellbeing infrastructure
- Transport connectivity
- Safer streets
- Education and youth engagement
- Community capacity building
Our Key Projects
As well as the Ten Year Vision, we’ve also created a four-year Investment Plan which sets out the key projects for the first part of the programme. They are:
- St George’s Guildhall & Creative Hub
- Riverfront Regeneration Phase 2
- Community Capacity Building, Assets and Empowerment
- Town Centre Repurposing
Developing our plans for King’s Lynn
The plans that have been developed are based on extensive community feedback over the last few years. This includes through our consultation in 2024 that saw around 1,100 people have their say. They have also been shaped by what we’ve learnt over the last year in our community conferences, community conversations, and workshops. You can read all about consultation and engagement and what we learnt here, and our Long Term Plan for Towns Consultation report 2024.
Get involved
This is just the beginning of our engagement with the community and we want to work together for the lifetime of the programme. There will be many more opportunities to get involved, including:
- This winter, a consultation will take place to shape detailed masterplan proposals for the town, and more information will be made available on the Borough Council and Vision King’s Lynn website and social media channels in the coming weeks.
- There will be a programme of training and development for people who want to get involved in the delivery of the projects.
- We’ll be carrying out detailed consultation on key projects as well as engagement on community-led action plans for different areas.
Updates will be shared on our website and on our social media channels.
