Vision King’s Lynn

HAVE YOUR SAY

The King’s Lynn Neighbourhood Board is committed to involving and engaging people in its work and listening to the views of the community to shape projects and plans.

King’s Lynn Community Conversations

  • Are you a community group or charity in King’s Lynn?
  • Can you help to shape how millions of pounds is invested in our town?
  • Can you hold a community conversation?

And, there’s funding available to help you to do just that.

Millions of pounds is coming into King’s Lynn through the Plan for Neighbourhoods and local people are at the very heart of shaping how this funding is invested in our town so that it can make a difference where it is needed.

During the summer, we want to find out what people think.

We’re supporting community groups and charities to hold community conversations and share feedback from local people on how this money could be spent. And, as part of this, we are able to fund engagement activities, such as incentives or refreshments or venue hire.

Find out all about how you can get involved and play a role in shaping the future for King’s Lynn in our community conversations toolkit document.

King’s Lynn Community Conference

Community groups, charities, and champions working to make a difference in King’s Lynn are invited to a community conference to discuss how future Plan for Neighbourhoods funding for the town should be prioritised to address local needs and opportunities.

Around 45 people from different groups, charities, and organisations came along to our Community Conference at South Lynn Community Centre in July 2025. The conference provided the opportunity for community organisations and groups operating in King’s Lynn to find out about the multi-million pound funding coming into the town – and how they can play a leading role in this opportunity.

There was lots of enthusiasm and many ideas captured at the event, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the months and years ahead.

The second community conference which follows on from our event in July, will take place Tuesday 16th September, 5pm-7pm at the Discovery Centre, 8 Columbia Way, King’s Lynn, PE30 2LA.

At this follow up conference, we will:

  • Update you on the emerging vision and priorities that the feedback shared previously has helped to shape;
  • Ask for your ideas and thoughts on projects that could be delivered within these priorities over the next ten years;
  • Share an update on the community conversations that have been taking place, and we’ll ask for your help to capture people’s views in the next stage of our consultation and engagement;
  • And we’ll talk about how we can work together practically in the long-term so that the delivery of this funding programme is truly collaborative.

Please book your place below by Friday 12th September 2025.

Previous Consultations

An extensive consultation as undertaken during summer 2024 for the previous government programme, Long Term Plan for Towns. We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part and had their say – your feedback is so important and it will help to shape future decisions and plans about how money is invested in the town under the new Plan for Neighbourhoods programme launched in Spring 2025.

We had around 1,100 people take part in either the survey, or at an event, or through another activity. This included 517 people who had their say in our survey.  We were also delighted that so many young people were involved and we ran a number of events and activities so that young people could share their views. This included 350 surveys which were carried out with young people, as well as young people workshop sessions.

Here are some of the key findings that we found out from the consultation:

  • King’s Lynn’s rich heritage and history is what people like most about the town – and people think there is opportunity to promote these heritage assets and stories more.
  • The riverfront / waterfront / quayside is considered ‘the best and strongest’ aspect of King’s Lynn’s heritage;
  • Feedback suggests that the town could be making more of its assets and could bring to life its heritage;
  • There is a desire for a more appealing town experience, and the biggest priority for improving the appearance of the town centre is bringing back into use empty buildings and shops.
  • There is a desire for a better shopping experience and a ‘thriving and vibrant’ town in the long-term.
  • There is interest in funding being put towards community and sporting activities, such as a public events programme. An improved sports offering would be welcomed and there is interest in support for community and voluntary groups and projects.

The full report is available for viewing below.

The College of West Anglia carried out vox pops for us during the consultation. You can find these on the Long Term Plan for Towns Consultation page.

“It’s an incredible historic town with beautiful buildings.”

“I love the rich history and character and wonderful sense of pride.”

“Develop a low cost public events programmes for families to join and support smaller grass roots fitness clubs like under 10 football teams.”

“Fill empty shops and better quality shops.”

“With our seafaring heritage we should make more use of the river.”

“Making use of the old buildings, rather than them staying empty and unused.”
